Meaning & usage
Superscript y (ʸ) places a character above or below the normal text baseline.
It is useful for powers, formulas and compact labels, but Unicode raised letters are not a complete replacement for formatted mathematics.
U+02B8 identifies this exact superscript y form; copying the character preserves its Unicode identity, while its appearance depends on the font or emoji renderer.
superscript y occupies one Unicode code point. A similar-looking letter, punctuation mark or emoji is not necessarily interchangeable with ʸ in search, filenames or text processing.
